Hi, My 8 year old Taz 6 is making "screeching: noises when they tool head descends to print. Sounds like the music in the movie “Psycho.”
I was advised to apply lithium grease not to the rods but above and the X axis.
Would you please share a diagram of exact where Ii need to apply this grease on the Taz 6?
Apparently, do not apply on the rods themselves?
I apply with Q-tips? Then wipe off with a microfiber cloth?
Do that monthly?
Thank you.
The two upright threaded screws that move the Z axis are where to put the lithium grease. I typically use a rag to apply. I start with the extruder at the top or bottom and then hold the rag loaded with lithium grease on the threads and move the extruder up or down. Once past the half way point I move the rag above or below. I do that a couple of times on both sides.
I guess how often depends on how much you print. I probably only grease mine a couple times per year at most.
Would you please insert arrows as to the areas you apply the lithium grease?
I follow graphics better than text.
Thank you.
I was told only
1 photo at a time so here’s the 2dn photo.
Image of the left side in the red rectangle. The threaded upright rod can have grease applied. I typically start with the extruder at the bottom and apply grease above it on both sides. Then move the extruder up to the top and then apply more grease on the bottom section of the threaded screws. Then move the extruder up and down several times and wipe off excess grease.
Do you get special Lithium grease? Anything on Amazon?
Then, do you just wipe that grease off with a microfiber cloth?
Thank you so very much for all your kind help!
Mine is Permatex white lithium grease in a tube. Not sure where I picked it up. Possibly automotive store or Walmart.
I use old t shirt rags but I guess a microfiber cloth would be fine.
I use old underwear to dry off my car so I’m with you on that one!
Thanks for all your help.
