Hi,
I’m noticing some noise as the z axis moves up and down during a print.
I figure those leadscrews need a wipe down and some lubricant.
I have some Magnalube I use on other machines lead screws. Is that suitable for the taz 6?

I’ve always used Lucas white lithium grease.
Like $12 for a massive tube from my local auto part store, and it’s probably enough to keep a dozen machines going for years.
Nice new avatar!
I went with what I had on hand and ran the printhead up and down a few times. I also used a paper towel on the last pass to get any excess off. They sure shiny again!
I’ve logged a lot of time on the Taz 6 as of late, cranking out some craft show prints.
I know the X axis has those Igus bearings. Can we use light oil (like sewing machine oil) on those? Or are they “self lubricating”?
They’re self-lubricating.
I use silicon spray lube on those Delrin nuts on the Z axis. Lithium tends to degrade them over time. Most of the noise is caused by plastic vapors from the printing deposting on ALL the surfaces. ![]()
They’re made of Drylin not Delrin. Delrin is a DuPont product that doesn’t have much in common besides being a close name.
Everything on Igus’s data sheets say no lubrication. Your best thing to do is just wipe any dust/contamination from the linear rods.
Much appreciated, thank you! It’s cranked out dozens of prints during the holiday season without issue.
