Meteor 175 Toolhead Settings

I’m working on switching to a Meteor 175 tool head. Since it isn’t officially supported for my printer (Kittaz upgraded to a Taz5), I need to build the Marlin firmware. In the configuration.h of the various marlin versions I’ve downloaded (including for the TAZ Pro) I’ve yet to find anything that references a Meteor or Galaxy series tool head. I figure I must be missing something, or perhaps the HS series tool heads are compatible?

You don’t need new firmware.

Adjust the nozzle offsets (M206) in startup to keep the zero position correct, adjust the steps/mm for the new motor to keep your extrusion rate calibrated, and redo your PID autotune to keep temperatures balanced.

But if you want to roll your own, there’s plenty of references to the galaxy series in the latest firmware on github: lulzbot3d/Marlin: Marlin is an optimized firmware for RepRap 3D printers based on the Arduino platform. Many commercial 3D printers come with Marlin installed. Check with your vendor if you need source code for your specific machine.

Actually based off what happened situation they recommended 1/2 mm retraction to prevent jams but otherwise I am not aware of other problems

I was looking at source code from download.lulzbot.com instead of the github repository, so I didn’t see the galaxy toolhead configurations in there. Thank you very much linking to that, along with the advice!

Okay you get the latest cura & select under settings
And on a recent 3DPrinter go on the 3DPrinter toolhead
But just to be sure it works I would like the details of the tool head & 3DPrinter just the product names
