Ive got genuine E3D V6 hotend and assembled the extruder with mix of v2 and moarstruder parts. It worked great at the beginning but now I am getting good few issues with extruder motor. Flow is not consistent which leave gaps as certain places. Very visible on the first layer. Also every couple of prints motor just starts jerking and doesnt push filament at all. And its not filament jam as when idler is unclipped it still doesn’t move. I disassembled it few times so far as I thought filament guide was misaligned with gear bolt, or motor is too tight/loose on the large gear. But it happened again. Is it time to change the servo motor? How “tight” should motor gear be on to larger gear? I leave little bit of play…
If the motor’s moving jerkily, it could be motor, or it could be the stepper motor driver on the board.
I’m not sure what you’re talking about with the tightness of the gear.
Reconnected my V2 toolhead and its printing alright. So its something on the E3D toolhead side… related to the gears, I am talking about play between stepper gear and large gear where their teeth are touching. How close should teeth be and how much play is recommended…
This sounds like some frakenstein of an extruder, so without pictures I still can’t help with the description you’ve given.
