Trying out HIPS

My TAZ is about three weeks old now and I’m getting very good and repeatable results using ABS. I am going to try out HIPS filament but want to check if there’s anything I should know before I dive in. Specifically, should I keep separate extruders for HIPS and ABS? (I used the same one with ABS and then PLA, and then back to ABS. As a bonus I got to learn how to unclog an extruder nozzle…8v) Any other “gotchas” I should know about?

You should be able to switch between ABS and HIPS at will, since they extrude at the same temperature. Pull the filament out from the extruder then extrude out the new filament until the hot end is purged of the old filament.
