My question is more āwhy does there need to be moreā.
Again, Cura5 works with Taz & itās being used in the field by many users. So why do we need a āspecial versionā?
Why not you put your dev time & energy into adding Taz to the ārealā Cura and call it a day? Many other manufacturers have done this with success today.
A special version is required because the mainline Cura didnāt want to include changes that were once used by the Lulzbot - probe temperature, soften temperature, wipe temperature. Iād say that with the proliferation of things like BLTouch for automatic leveling, the soften and wipe temperature arenāt as necessary.
There are other changes that Cura LE has that are not immediately apparent. For dual extrusion this includes excluding areas on the print bed that both extruders cannot reach, pre-heating the second nozzle to reduce time between tool changes, special retraction settings for dual extrusion, etc.
I am sure there are other changes in LE beyond the colors, but I would love to see a feature merge in 5.4.
If you are comfortable modifying your profiles, you donāt need the special version, but I do appreciate having it as a well-tested set of profiles and such to rule out custom profiles in the mainline cura and Prusaslicer as a source of failure - especially for those asking for help.
I am waiting for the Mac version to be released, but meantime I downloaded the 4.13.0 onto a PC I have. What I am not seeing is the āmultiply objectā button on the new version (it is on the 3.6.20 version). Is it in 4.13.0, and I just havenāt seen it, or is it missing - which for me would be a serious omission.
Thanks,
Giles
The button itself in the UI is missing! Iāve got that noted and it should be added back in at some point for ease of use.
In the mean time, right clicking on a loaded object on the build plate will open a short menu that has āMultiply Selectedā as an option with the same functionality, or alternatively you can also bring up the multiply menu by selecting your object and pressing both Ctrl and M.
Thank you again for your help here.
One feature I would like to see in a new CURA would be under the heading "SUPPORT> Support placement.ā
Presently there are two options: EVERYWHERE and TOUCHING BUILD PLATE. It would be useful if there was a third option : "Everywhere EXCEPT the build plateā.
Is this a possibility?
Thanks,
Giles Becket
Interesting idea! I could see situations where that could be useful. I can definitely add it to our list of things to look into for the future. Iād have to look into how much work thatād be to implement and itād be relatively low on our priority list for the moment, but I will absolutely take note of it!
I appreciate that. Thanks.
I repair items like old radios, CD players, Minidisc players, etc. The electronics are easy enough, but often in the past I would be stumped by a missing knob or (especially) a battery door! Enter the 3-D printer and PETG. However, battery doors frequently have internal overhangs, to engage with the main part of the case, and these require a support when printing. Often the outside of the battery door is a gradual curved and doesnāt need a support, but gets one anyway (because of the internal overhang). The support on the outside curve ruins the cosmetic look of the print.
Thatās why I would love to turn off the support from build plate, but leave other supports on.
BTW. I have an original Lulzbot Mini with the graphical interface unit. It must be about 5 or 6 years old and still pumps out perfectly excellent prints. It has never gone wrong. Solidly built and totally dependable. A great machine!
I think it depends on the toolhead you select. 3.6.37 had polycarbonate filament as an option for the 2.85mm SE 0.5mm when I printed with it on my Mini 2.
Youāll have to create a profile on your own, or wait for LulzBot to make those. I would consider the H175 or M175v2 to be superior to the SE .5mm in just about every way (flex materials be the possible exception), so if you copy the PC profile for the SE 0.5mm and just change out the material thickness, the Taz should have no problem running with those settings. If you want to tweak for the higher speeds that the lighter printhead allows for, modify the profile and test as you see fit.
When I click download CuraLE 4.13.0 I get BETAv1.3. When I click on ālatest patch notesā there are notes for 4.13.0-BETAv1.4. Where is the executable for v1.4?
v1.4 was the in-progress work, the patch notes file in the repository is updated as work is being done so as to not leave any changes out. Itās currently being looked at for the go-ahead to have put up on the website. Should be relatively soon.
Iām using the Lulzbot Taz Pro XT that was sent as a media review item. It comes with the 1.2mm SE toolhead. Your stable Cura crashes a lot on me so I thought I would give the beta a try.
Iāve dialed in my flow and in an attempt to maintain some details, I have the layer resolution set to 0.5
Both prints I have tried to do have failed due to layer shifts. One early on in the first 10 layers, another several hours in.
I video record/monitor all prints and I donāt see any mechanical issue nor do I see any nozzle collision or nudging issues that show they are the root cause. Iām using the stock profile with just the support settings, temp at 220 and the mentioned layer res of 0.5mm
Iām going to put the layer resolution back up to 0.6 and try again. Whom do I send the filament bill to? =)
I just downloaded v15 and putting it through itās paces.
A few ideas for the next build.
Regular Cura has the option to select the Nozzle size (Settings > Extruder > Nozzle Size). With the M175 and H175, where one can change out the nozzles, it would be nice to set that here. (Alternatively I just adjust the Line Width)
Can we have the MarketPlace? There are many calibration tools in there I really like to use (temp towers, retraction, etc)
The nozzle size setting is definitely on my to-do list, for sure. Iāll see about getting that one done sooner than later since I know it makes for some real struggles at times with certain configurations.
As far as the Marketplace goes, thatās on the radar but I donāt foresee us making use of it for a while yet. This may be something that is looked at during a potential jump from 4 to 5, since as far as Iām aware Maketplace plugins do not have to support previous versions of Cura, but Iām not certain of that. The jump from 4 to 5 includes a major version change to the GUI library (Qt 5 to Qt 6), so there are potentially breaking changes. There is also the issue that with the differences between UltiMakerās Cura and our Cura LulzBot Edition that some plugins may not be entirely compatible, which weād probably have to have a disclaimer for.
However, I will say that if you download the plugins from the Marketplace manually (they usually link the GitHub or GitLab page where you can find a .curapackage file) and drag-n-drop that file into Cura LE, they should still install. I canāt promise that theyāll work, but the application will still attempt to install them.
