Brand new to printing. Picked up a taz 6 running marlin? A lulzbot mini i 2 running marlin as well? Am I good with that? I know these are older units, but I am having a blast with them and can actually figure these out. I was able to get both up and running after a fee hours of reading and cursing at all the lingo I’ve never heard of. I still have more questions than education on them tho. Is there anyone out there that running these and willing to guide me from time to time? These things are absolutely awesome. Im becoming a dinosaur myself and have no issues keeping older things kicking.
Both marlin, yes.
This is a good place to ask questions as they arise. Welcome.
Thank you for the welcoming. Thank you more for any all help i shall receive as well!
I have a TAZ 6 and also find it to be a solid machine. You can view various past issues that are very informative. The great thing about the TAZ is it open sourced so you have many options to fix and upgrade. I find the main drawback is I have kept printing at 2.85mm. I find it more difficult with PLA. I tend to use PETg Ana and ABS.
I have noticed my taz 6 prints best with abs. I thought I got a mini as well, turned it on and discovered it is a taz 5. Im trying to figure it out. It has a glass bed and an aftermarket manufacturer sticker on the toolhead. Love the taz 6 soo far, slow but just keeps rolling out filament.
I had struggles getting the Taz6 to do PLA in stock form. It’s not great at it, due to heatcreep and abysmal part cooling. PLA also sticks to the nozzle much more, causing more probing failures due to contaminated nozzles.
ABS though? Piece of cake first try.
